Another valuable lesson, often learned by church leaders the hard way, is to understand the difference between your goals and your desires as it relates to applying Jesus' teaching on anxiety in the Sermon on the Mount.

God means for you to learn how to focus your attention, your energies, and all your worries primarily on the goals that you can do something about today, and then trust him with all those things that are out of your control for tomorrow–and all the tomorrows ahead.

In this lesson you'll learn how to work hard toward your goals and pray hard for your desires.

You'll be equipped to:

  • Understand the difference between your goals and your desires

  • Define goals as those things that are within your control

  • Identify desires as things that are usually out of your control

  • Learn to focus your work on daily tasks towards reasonable goals

  • Choose to trust God with your ministry outcomes and desires

  • Work hard toward your goals while praying hard toward your desires
